March 2008

Hello, and thanks for checking in. I've been busy doing whatever it is that I do . . .

We recently mailed out AGW Vol 13 No 2. This issue includes Chet Atkins' arrangement of From Nashville With Love; Favorite Chet Licks (featuring Chet's break from Fiddlin' Around); Tall Cotton by Richard Hudson; Favorite Reed Intros (featuring Jerry's version of Wayfaring Stranger; and the gospel favorite Trust and Obey. (If you're not a subscriber yet, be sure to check the AGW page while you're here.)

My transcription of Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle was in the February 2008 issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine. (If you missed it, it's also in AGW back issue Vol 11 No 3.)

My friend Edward Powers has a new CD, Acoustic Kisses, Vol. 1 (Monster Traxx Records). It's a tribute to the late Tommy Jones. Ed recorded the project in his home studio with his collection of Hascal Haile guitars, and the sound is exquisite. Among my favorite tracks are Ed's own arrangements of You Don't Bring Me Flowers and Fire and Rain. Check out the sound clips at www.edwardpowers.com.

The annual Chet Atkins Appreciation Society convention will be held in Nashville this July. For more info and a registration form, go to www.chetsociety.com. Hope to see you there!

Until next time,

P.S. Check out the new Gretsch Chet Atkins CGP model guitar.
